Diagnostic Vascular Ultrasound is completely painless and non-invasive and Provides accurate Diagnosis and Management of significant Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), including Stenoses, Occlusions and Aneurysms of the arteries of The lower limb and abdomen, including the mesenteric and renal, neck and Upper limb arteries Thoracic Outlet (TOS) and Raynaud’s Syndrome.
Duplex Doppler Ultrasound readily accurately and painlessly distinguishes leg pain due to Arterial Disease, which may become serious, – from other causes. Costly and often invasive, painful or claustrophobic investigations such as arteriograms, MRI or CTA (requires high radiation exposure), are in most cases unnecessary.
Latest advances in Minimally invasive Endovascular Surgery of patients with blocked arteries in the legs – using a fine needle through the skin into the artery in the groin, local anaesthetic and “twilight sleep” unilateral or bilateral as day case or overnight.
VARICOSE VEINS – LARGE or SMALL
Duplex (or Visual) Guided Foam Sclerotherapy for Varicose Veins (DGFS/VGS) is our latest minimally invasive injection treatment, which when performed at WA Vascular Centre, is as effective, if not more effective, than other available
DGFS/VGS also avoids these treatments greater costs and possibility of complications. Alternative treatments include surgery, or heat destroying methods, such as Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA), of Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA), or intravenous Superglue. These treatments also usually require adjunctive sclerotherapy injection of Branches of varicose veins which cannot be treated directly, or remain following these Treatments.
LEG ULCERS MAY BE DUE TO ARTERIAL DISEASE AND/OR VARICOSE VEINS
Healing may be expedited by treating the Venous &/or Arterial cause of the Ulcer, rather than by just treating the ulcer itself by continual long term repeated dressings.
